About

Inspirational Technology is the personal blog of Kimbro Staken. I’m currently a co-founder and Chief Technology Officer at JumpBox Inc. and I’m also a founder of Grid7 L.L.C.. My main interest at this time is virtualization technology and at JumpBox we’re working on technology for the construction of virtual appliances.

I currently live in Phoenix Az. and JumpBox has offices in downtown Tempe Az.

In a past life I spent a lot of time on XML technologies and open source development. In particular I’ve done a lot of work on Microcontent, Microformats, REST web services and Native XML databases. I served as CTO for the dbXML Group, co-founded the Apache Software Foundation Xindice native XML database project and co-founded the XML:DB Standards Initiative. Merging my work on native XML databases with my ideas for microcontent produced the Syncato project in 2003 and in 2005 I became involved with the Structured Blogging Initiative where I created the concept and implementation of the Microcontent Description Language (MCD) used by the Structured Blogging plugins.

I started Grid7 L.L.C. with my partner Sean Tierney in January 2006. JumpBox Inc. was born from the Grid7 Labs in July of 2006. Through Grid7 Sean and I (mostly Sean) produce the Grid7 Venturecast, a podcast focused on entrepreneurship in Arizona.
